Bringing Tulips Home from the Netherlands?

A permit to import Dutch tulip bulbs into Canada is not required, however you must declare them on the customs form and the packages must have the "Certificate of inspection" sticker issued by the National Plant Protection Organization of the Netherlands.

  • Ensure you get the sticker from the vendor when you buy the bulbs.

  • Only original stickers will be accepted by Customs.

  • The date of issue must be indicated on the sticker.

  • The sticker is valid for six weeks from the date of purchase.

  • Keep the package sealed until after you pass through customs.
