Electronic Travel Authorization for U.K. to Begin in January 2025
Are you planning on travelling to England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland? You will need to register online for the new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
The United Kingdom will be implementing a new regulation requiring all travelers who do not hold a passport or visa to the United Kingdom to register online, known as the UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), to enter the UK by air or sea.
[This applies to most of my clients. - Claire]
This requirement took effect on January 8, 2025, for all non-European nationalities.
Failure to present the United Kingdom Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) when you enter the U.K., will result in denial of entry.
Please note, the ETA can take up to three business days to obtain. The ETA, priced at £10 per application, will be issued electronically and will remain valid for two years or until the associated passport expires, allowing for multiple entries into the UK during this period.
