My Point of View: The DIY Traveller

You have a passion for travel but also a love for in deep diving into the research and planning.

I’ve noticed since the world reopened I have had the pleasure of working, not only with my loyal clients, heading off on some incredible journeys, but with those new to planning travel. It is exciting to see them venture off and come back ready to plan the next one.

There is a new type of client coming to me for assistance:  The "DIY" Traveller.

These have a passion for travel but also a love for the research and planning.  As someone who revels in the details of trip planning, especially those involving multiple elements I know the joy it brings.  My career, of nearly four decades has never been dull and not a single day passes without learning something new.

Consider the hours spent searching or that ideal dining spot or excursion that promises a premium experience. My research goes beyond an internet search.  I have relationships with multiple suppliers both locally and internationally and have contacts in various destinations ready to ensure your trips runs smoothly.  Should things go a little sideways.

I have a support network through my host agency and a team of colleagues with diverse expertise, all committed to making your experience the best it can be.

There have been discussions about the services I choose not to offer. I am selective about what I book because my priority is getting you the best experience for your investment.  It’s not always about the cheapest option, but the best quality at a fair price. The point is for you to come back saying it was “amazing”, rather than just “OK”.

The shift towards using travel advisors, even among those who love to plan their own trips, speaks to the importance of security and reliability. The tales of unrefunded cancellations and last-minute changes have led many to value the assurance that comes with working with a professional.  Knowing there is someone fighting for your interests, ready to adjust plans on your behalf only being a text or what’s app away offers peace of mind if things go awry.

Whether you're a seasoned traveler, new to exploring the world, or considering the expertise of a travel advisor for the first time, know that by working with me, you're supporting not just a small business, but a real person who genuinely cares about creating the perfect travel experience for you.

Thank you for your unwavering support over the years. I eagerly look forward to planning your next dream trip.
