The fairy tale Neuschwanstein Castle

Situated perfectly above the village of Hohenschwangau in southwest Bavaria, Germany is just the kind of storybook palace you'd expect to see in a Disney movie.

The Neuschwanstein Castle, which translates to "new swan stone," is a Romanesque Revival palace built for King Ludwig II.

However, Ludwig only spent 11 nights total in the castle, and there isn't even a throne room because it wasn't completed before his death.

Walt Disney immortalized the palace when he designed Cinderella's castle after the Neuschwanstein Castle, proving that it is fit for a fairytale!
