Clone House in County Wicklow

In the heart of vibrant and beautiful County Wicklow, just an hour south of Dublin, Clone House offers a unique holiday experience.

Billy Byrne commanded the famed ‘Ballymanus Corps’ of Wicklowmen.

A Tumultuous History

Clone House was originally built by the O’Byrne family in the 1650’s. The house’s history is as grand and interesting as its demeanor.

Clone House provided refuge to the famous Billy Byrne of Ballymanus, was burnt down in the 1798 Rebellion, restored around 1805 and nowadays functions as a beautiful guesthouse.

Renovations have gone on inside and outside of the house and in gardens since purchased in 2000 after extensive structural renovation was conducted by the previous owner.

Jeff and Svetlana and their three lovely Airedale Terriers give their guests a warm and pet friendly welcome into their tranquil and beautiful heritage countryside retreat.

Victorian Sitting Room

Grand, elegant and modern and one of the most beloved rooms in the house. The room inspires awe with its marble chimneypiece and three gorgeous bay windows facing south, providing ample light and sunshine throughout the day.

In Front of the Fireplace

After a fulfilling day well spent the room is yours to enjoy a drink of your choice in front of the crackling fireplace.

The Victorian style is characterized by a lot of decoration, rich ornamentation and abundant furniture upholstery, mirroring the prosperity in the Victorian era.

Breakfast At Clone House

Wake up to the aromas of freshly cooked, locally sourced ingredients, as the hosts prepare your breakfast to perfection each morning. From sizzling sausages and crispy bacon to delicious pancakes, every bite captures the essence of a classic Irish feast.

And for an extra touch of indulgence, they offer freshly baked, homemade scones daily—warm, buttery and straight from the oven.

The dining room is an elegant Victorian era styled room with a high ceiling and chandeliers. Savour the beautiful views of the garden and surrounding countryside while enjoying your dinner.

The dining room gets the last of the evening sun and faces onto a lovely outdoor lawn area, providing an opportunity for indoor and outdoor dining, weather permitting.
